A transreptor is an endpoint that transforms information from one physical form to another. This process is called transrepresentation, or transreption. A transreptor is implemented as a physical endpoint that resolves TRANSREPT requests with certain representations as an input and an expected representation as a response.

Because a transreptor does not use a grammar to bind it to a space, it can be declared to a space with only a reference to the Java class or prototype providing the physical endpoint implementation.

<transreptor>
  <class>com.mycomp.endpoints.PNGTransreptor</class>
</transreptor>

<transreptor>
  <prototype> ... Name of a transreptor prototype ....</prototype>
</transreptor>

Detailed information about writing transreptors is included in the Physical Reference Guide.
